What a Brazilian Wax at Our Midtown Studio Actually Involves

A full Brazilian wax removes all hair from the front, the bikini line, and the back. We work with warm hard wax (including a CBD-infused option), which shrink-wraps around the hair and lifts from the follicle without gripping the skin — the reason it is gentler than the strip wax used in many salons. A first appointment takes about 25–35 minutes; regular clients are often in and out in 20.

Before you come in: let hair grow to about a quarter inch (roughly 2–3 weeks after shaving), exfoliate gently the day before, and skip caffeine and retinoids for 24 hours — both increase sensitivity. Booking in the week after your period, rather than the days just before, also makes the session more comfortable.

Afterwards: avoid heat (gym, sauna, hot showers, swimming) and tight synthetic clothing for 24–48 hours, then start exfoliating two to three times a week and moisturising daily to keep ingrown hairs away. Hair grows back finer and more sparsely with each cycle, and most clients settle into a visit every 3–4 weeks. A standard Brazilian is $45, hard-wax Brazilian $50, and the CBD Brazilian $45; add underarms or a bikini-line tidy on the same visit if you like.

Waxing is not suitable while using oral isotretinoin (Accutane) or for 5–7 days after a chemical peel or laser; tell your esthetician about any retinoid creams, recent sunburn, or skin conditions so the wax and technique can be adjusted.

Getting a Brazilian Wax Near Park Avenue

The studio is at 676 Lexington Avenue at East 56th Street, one block east of Park Avenue in the Plaza District. Most of our Brazilian-wax regulars work in the surrounding office towers — the law firms, banks, and corporate headquarters along Park and Lexington in the 50s — and book a lunch-hour or straight-after-work slot because the appointment fits inside an hour door to door.

By subway we are about three blocks from Lexington Av/59 St (4, 5, 6, N, R, W) and the same from Lexington Av/53 St (E, M); the 51 St station on the 6 is the closest of all. The M101, M102, and M103 buses stop on Lexington, and the M57 crosstown runs a block north. Commuters from Grand Central are a five-minute ride on the 6 or a ten-minute walk.

Because Midtown East runs on a tight schedule, we hold same-day appointments and take walk-ins between booked clients — useful before a flight out of the city, a weekend away, or an event. Evenings until 7:30 (7:00 on Sunday) cover people who cannot step out during the working day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Brazilian wax hurt?
−

It depends on your personal pain tolerance, but our master estheticians use high-quality hard wax designed for sensitive skin to minimize discomfort. Regular waxing also makes each session much easier!

How long does the hair need to be?
+

For the best results, hair should be about the size of a grain of rice (around 1/4 inch). This usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks of growth after your last shave.

How long will the results last?
+

Every body is different, but typically you can expect to remain smooth and hair-free for 3 to 4 weeks before you need to schedule your next appointment.

Can I get waxed during my period?
+

Yes, you can! Just be aware that you may be a bit more sensitive to pain during this time. Please wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup to your appointment.

What should I do for post-wax care?
+

Avoid hot baths, saunas, and intense workouts for 24-48 hours. After a few days, begin gently exfoliating the area 2-3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs.

How is your Brazilian wax different from a bikini wax?
+

A bikini wax only removes hair outside the underwear line and across the top. A Brazilian removes everything — front, bikini line, and back. If you want something in between, ask for a ‘deep bikini’, which takes more off the sides and top but leaves a strip or triangle in front.

Can I get a Brazilian wax on my lunch break?
+

Yes. A repeat Brazilian takes about 20 minutes and a first-timer 25–35, so a midday appointment near Park Avenue fits comfortably inside an hour. Booking ahead guarantees the slot, but we also take walk-ins between clients.

Does hard wax hurt less than strip wax?
+

For most people, yes. Hard wax sets around the hair and releases from the follicle rather than pulling at the skin, so it is the better choice for the bikini area and for sensitive skin. The first appointment is always the most sensitive; it eases noticeably once you are on a regular cycle.

How often should I come back?
+

Every 3 to 4 weeks keeps you on the same growth cycle, which is when waxing is most comfortable and regrowth is finest. Leaving it longer than 6 weeks means starting the cycle over.

What if I am on my period?
+

You can still be waxed — just wear a tampon or cup, and expect to be a little more sensitive. If you have the choice, the week after your period is the most comfortable time.
